While I was away in Edmonds at Rick Steves' annual reunion, Olivier took care of business and worked on the old chimney. He removed it to find another pipe under...
He also had the big pine tree cut down with our friend Jean-Marc. The tree was growing in what we call the sheep pen (we have no idea if sheep were there...), and what will be one of the guest rooms on the ground floor, with Olivier's office on top and a terrace with views on the rolling vineyards.
Olivier is having a blast at working outside, it is a change from city-apartment life!
Alors que je passais une semaine près de Seattle pour la conférence annuelle de Rick Steves, Olivier a attaqué la vieille cheminée, pour découvrir qu'il y avait un autre conduit à l'intérieur. Toujours de bonnes surprises! Puis avec Jean-Marc, ils ont abattu le pin qui menaçait de faire tomber ce que l'on appelle la bergerie (on n'a pas la preuve qu'il y ait eu des moutons... mais on l'appelle comme cela!). C'est ce qui deviendra au rez-de-chaussée une chambre d'hôtes et à l'étage le bureau d'Olivier et une terrasse donnant sur les vignobles.
The last walls standing in the mezzanine are gone... The concrete floor will have to be demolished by a professional. Then it will become a new mezzanine with a lighter wooden floor that we will use as a TV/ reading room.
Les derniers murs de la mezzanine sont tombés. Une fois démolie, ce sera une nouvelle mezzanine, mais plus légère, avec un plancher en bois qui servira de salle TV/lecture...
