Last (half) wall standing... Le dernier (demi) mur debout!

This was our last week-end gutting the house. There was one cinder block wall to take down, and then, well, we went for two more! As expected they were sturdy, and what was their reason to be? Not holding anything, and just walls inside a house!!!

Dernier week end pour la démolition intérieure. Il y avait encore un mur en parpaing à faire tomber, et puis en fait on en a fait tomber deux autres! Bien sûr, c'était du costaud et pour aucune raison... Pourquoi monter à l'intérieur d'une maison de tels murs qui ne soutenaient rien???

Part of that yellow wall had a reinforced concrete column, of course. We are not equipped to take it down, a mason will have to take care of it.


Une partie du mur jaune était en béton armé... Un maçon devra s'occuper de cette belle colonne... A moins qu'on ne la garde...










Now to the red wall.... et le mur rouge...

A scaffolding will be needed to take it down completely. Olivier got half of it sitting astride on the wooden beam.

Il faudra un échaffaudage pour atteindre le haut. Olivier a réussi à en abattre une partie à califourchon sur la grosse poutre...

It is now easier to draw with chalk on the ground where the future walls and furniture will be.

C'est maintenant beaucoup plus facile de tracer à la craie au sol la position des futures cloisons et meubles.

As the days are getting nicer and as we were heading towards the end of the work inside, I started working on the stone wall outside. It is covered by lots of nasty ivy...

Les beaux jours arrivant (doucement), et qu'il n'y a plus grand chose à faire à l'intérieur, je me suis attaquée à un mur en pierres extérieur recouvert de lierre...
