Spring is here finally! Grand ménage de printemps!
After a deserved break, we spent last week end mainly working outside the house now that the weather is finally nice. We made "cairns" with all the stones littered around the house (yes, 6.2 acres...) in order to later pick them up and then be able to mow when the grass starts growing.
Après une pause sans travailler sur la maison, nous y avons passé le week end dernier principalement dehors maintenant que le beau temps est finalement arrivé. Nous avons fini de faire des tas de pierres jonchant les 2.7 hectares de terrain. Il faudra sous peu les enlever pour pouvoir tondre.
The house had been maintained neither inside, nor outside. Olivier worked on opening the view by removing the outside "dumpster" of the previous owner.... and cutting some trees.
La maison n'était entretenue ni de l'intérieur, ni de l'extérieur. Olivier a dégagé la vue sur le joli village de Leynes en enlevant la "déchet" des ex-propriétaires...
On my end, I cleaned up the wall of the courtyard which was covered with ivy, probably a decade of ivy growth...

De mon côté, je me suis attaquée au muret de pierre de la cour qui était recouvert de lierre, et pas entretenu depuis au moins dix ans...
The house already looks much better with the courtyard cleaned up of all of the waste. The next stage is the removing of the tiles on the sheep pen, which will become our small home while the works are being done on the house. It will then be the biggest of the three guest rooms (on the ground floor) with a terrace and Olivier's office above.
La maison prend déjà plus d'allure une fois la cour nettoyée. La prochaine grosse étape: enlever le toit de l'ex-bergerie qui deviendra notre petit studio (petite mais avec vue splendide!) pendant la durée des travaux sur la maison, puis ce sera ensuite la plus grande des trois chambres d'hôte au RDC avec à l'étage une terrasse et le bureau d'Olivier.
When we thought we had demolished the last wall, well... there was one more. We thought it was odd to keep the old cinder block wall that could indeed have been left for our bedroom/dressing/bathroom. But now that it is gone, we can modify the sketch of our master bedroom.
Quand on croyait avoir démoli le dernier mur, on en a attaqué un autre! Un mur en parpaing aurait pu être gardé pour notre chambre/dressing/sdb, mais maintenant qu'il est tombé, il y a plus de possibilités.
Our rubber pile is getting bigger and bigger...
Le tas de gravats grossit...
The good news: our building permit has been accepted and some hyacinths are growing (they were supposed to be tulips that Olivier brought back from the Netherlands!).
La bonne nouvelle: permis de construire accepté! et les jacinthes poussent! Ca devait être des tulipes, ramenées de Hollande par Olivier...
