Waiting for the construction to start.. Il faut reconstruire maintenant!
The last three week ends were spent taking care of demolishing the walls (nearly 2 feet thick) of the "bergerie". It took time and a few heavy duty tools and some rethinking of the future construction.
Nous avons passé les trois derniers week ends à la déconstruction de l'ex-bergerie (murs de 50cm d'épaisseur). Il a fallu du temps, du gros matériel et repenser le plan futur de cette partie:
First, we are still planning to keep the U shape stone construction on the right for the bathroom. And we hope to keep the standing stone wall on the left.
D'abord, nous pensons toujours garder le mur en U de droite pour la future salle de bain, et le bout mur seul à gauche.
Then, during a week end I (Virginie) was on tour, Olivier rented this small "toy" to get rid of the wall on the right and move around 45 tons of stones and rubble.... It looks like he had a lot of fun and learned very fast!
Ensuite, Olivier a loué un tracto-pelle pour enlever le mur de droite et déplacer environ 45 tonnes de pierres et gravats. Il s'est bien amusé!

We also worked on the inside of the house where there is still a bit of work to do. We deconstructed the fireplace (built in the 1970, not historic), made of very strong concrete... Here is what it looks like before:
Ensuite, nous avons cassé l'ancienne cheminée du salon faite en béton costaud et buses de drainage béton...
It is a lot of work with ups and downs for our morale, but when we find some time to stop and relax we can only enjoy the beautiful outdoor and peaceful environment! Olivier started a small vegetable garden and we are harvesting his first crop. Not bad for a few hours in and watering once a week.
C'est énormément de travail et le moral a des hauts et des bas, mais dès que nous nous arrêtons quelques moments, nous profitons d'une nature magnifique et calme. Olivier a pris le temps de commencer un petit potager sur des principes de permaculture et nous apprécions la première récolte! Pas mal pour un arrosage une fois par semaine et zéro besoin de désherbage.
