Start of 2019! Début d'année

A year ago, on January 10 we bought our house! Things have moved in a year, not as fast as we wished, but we should be moving in the extension by the end of February.

We have left Lyon and are renting a studio 10 minutes away from our home. We are downsizing a bit (~600sq ft) from our apartment in Lyon (930sq ft), to get used to our smaller extension (480sq ft), but come June we should have plenty of room for the two of us (2800sq ft!).
Our studio (with its swimming pool....) for two months and the vineyard hikes around:

The extension is now air and watertight. We will do the painting and flooring ourselves as well as the small kitchen behind the sliding door.

In the bathroom, fixtures need to be added after tiling.

Inside the main house, the roof insulation is going quite fast, the new (19!) windows have been ordered and the water trenches dug.

And some holes are finally being filled!

Et des trous sont finalement rebouchés!

Happy New Year!
Bonne Année!

  1. so exciting. I am happy for you both. Thank you for all the help you gave me providing my excursion trip to Chateau Thiereux (sp?). It all went well. Since my return, i've continued working on my own older home and just this new year, have for the first time a new life partner (so exciting for me). We both travel so that is nice. A return trip to France is possible in the next few years; Ireland may be first. I am so glad that we met and had a nice time together with a nice group. I look at the pictures often with fond memories. Merci.
